Discussion: Recruiting and Retention
Employers not only want to recruit the best possible employees, they want to retain them as well. To make their companies attractive to potential employees, some business owners offer benefits, or perquisites (perks) that are above and beyond a standard compensation package.
For this Discussion, imagine you work for a business that gave you a large signing bonus and allows you unlimited vacation time—you can take time off anytime you want, for as long as you want, for any reason. Or imagine you work for a company that asks you to relocate but is unwilling to pay for your relocation costs, and offers only one week of vacation, regardless of your tenure with the business.
- What are the benefits and challenges of each scenario?
